Racial Discrimination White People - 897 Words
People assume that white people arenââ¬â¢t victims of racial discrimination. Racial discrimination has been around for centuries. Unfortunately, it is still a part of our society. Racism is everywhere and is even the top stories in the news. The way I grew up increased my chance of racial discrimination. To explain, I have a multiracial family and some people donââ¬â¢t accept it. Also, I have friends of different races that often say disturbing comments. Stereotypes play a big role on how people view a particular race. People often use racial stereotypes to define my personality and image. One common stereotype about white people is that they are incapable to keep a good rhythm. Sometimes, when a song plays aloud, people often tell me I shouldnââ¬â¢t start dancing because white people canââ¬â¢t dance. Another stereotype is that white people are insane. There have been many occasions where an individual would do something out of the ordinary and someone would comment, ââ¬Å"Only white people would do that.â⬠stereotypes often give people the wrong idea about white peopleââ¬â¢s preferences. People automatically assume that white people have a problem with black people because of history. I often get asked the question ââ¬Å"Do you like black people?â⬠Then, when I tell people about my family and that I have more black friends that any other race, they are shocked.
